|
|
A non-musical usually rehearses for 6 weeks. Typically on Mon/Tues/Th nights from 6:30 to 8:30. Closer to show dates, some weekends are necessary. Musicals usually rehearse for 8 weeks. Do not accept a role if you cannot commit to the rehearsal schedule!

What do you have to do at an typical audition?
|
|
|
|
If it is a musical production, we ask that you have a brief song prepared to sing for the musical director. This need not be a full song-just a couple of verses. Preferably your selection would be something from the show but anything that features your vocal range. Bring the sheet music with you if you want the musical director to accompany you. Otherwise bring a cd or tape. We will provide the boom box. The musical director will also ask you to sing scales in order to check your vocal range.
After everyone has finished their singing audition, then the director will have you read selections from the play with other actors. Auditions are a held over a 2 day period and although you are not required to attend both days, it is helpful if you are available in the event the director needs to read you against a new person. There may be a third date left open for final call-backs if necessary. Cast lists are posted at an announced time on the website.

I have no desire to be on stage but is there some other way to get involved?

There are many activities that take place behind the scences. Just call our office or send us an email and tell us your area of interest.
Set building/painting:
If you're handy with a cordless drill or a paint brush, then join in with the set crew. They typically are working every weekend before a show.
Costumes:
From measuring the cast to sewing to rummaging through racks of clothes at Goodwill to packing up rented costumes and shipping them out, there is always a way to help out here.
Hair & Makeup:
Helping cast members apply their makeup before each show.
Box Office:
Each performance requires 2 people in the box office selling tickets and counting the proceeds.
Ushers:
Help hand out programs, take up tickets, and tidy up after the show. As an usher, you can stay and see the show.
Preview Party:.
If putting together a big soire is your thing, then help our party crew coordinate all the details. |
